Access Ramps

For seniors with limited mobility, a ramp can be a critical link to independent living. Neighborhood Senior Services can construct and install access ramps to create a safer way to enter and exit the home, helping the senior regain a sense of freedom. Access Ramp services include:

  • Personalized needs assessment with each client
  • Ramp Feasibility study by a licensed contractor
  • Ramp installation provided by NSS staff and trained volunteers
  • Building Department inspection

Since NSS first began (1997) building ramps using a modular design developed by the Minnesota Center for Independent Living, the increased demand and difficulty with winter installations lead to a switch from a wood to aluminum. These aluminum ramps are built on stable platforms and can easily be installed and dismantled. Since the need for ramps tends to be immediate, aluminum modular ramps are a terrific option since they can be installed in less time with less labor and cost.
